Reviewing My GAME Plan

During the course of this GAME Plan I have spent a great deal of time working at the goals I have set forth. I have learned that even the best set goals need constant reworking. I will make sure to now research what I would like to implement in my class so that I would not have to create everything on my own. I will also make it a priority to stay current with new technologies for the classroom.

I am still working on finishing up my WebQuest. I was making it for my 8th grade Nutrition class but I found out that I won't have 8th graders this year. They have given me 6th instead. Now I have a whole year to get it just the way I want it. I am also staying current with new technologies by reading blogs on the topics that will help me in my teaching. I have also been working on creating material that will be helpful for teachers that are apprehensive about using technology in the classroom.

After reading and learning about the importance of the NETS-T standards in today's classroom I will now make sure that they will be meet in some way during my lessons and school year. My goal is to make sure that by the end of the ten weeks I have my students that they leave with a better understanding of how technology can be used in the classroom in a fun and positive way.

  1. Allison,
I completely understand when you say that the best goals need reworking. I have a feeling that as I progress with mine I will also have to make additional changes in a few areas.I still wonder if I bit off more than I can chew!
Good luck with your 6th grade class. They are different. You will do well. Reading those blogs and locating resources is a great way to identify materials that can support your goals. You have really taken the initiative by creating resources for other teachers. You might want to create your own blog or think about writing a book like you see in the teacher catalogs that sell teachers created materials. I think that you can do it. You might have an edge that teachers need. Think about it! I woudl buy it.

  2. Allison,

Don't you love when they switch the grade level on you! I had that happen this year to me as well! I am excited to teach fourth grade this year instead of 6th grade that I have been teaching for the past three years, yet, I am not thrilled to create a new curriculum. Throws a curve ball the the GAME plan for sure! I think that you are at a good start and with time it will fall into place. One goal I have met for myself this upcoming year is to put time aside every week to work on my goals. That way I will make sure that I accomplish something each week and not just push it to the side. We all know that is easy to do when things get busy! Have a good week!

One goal that I found of importance is anything that would encourage and assist educators in using technology in their instruction is so great. I hope you will find the time and resources to build confident in teachers who are apprehensive about integrating technology into their instruction.

  4. Jessica has a point that when you schedule time you actually will make things happen. Like exercising...when you pencil it in your calendar you are more likely to do it.
