The goals of my game plan take time and effort to implement. I have spent some time researching different WebQuests that will fit for my classroom. I have found many useful tools from other people's WebQuests that I will be able to use in the one that I hope to create. I took the additional steps of registering the computer labs so that my students are able to have computer access to complete the WebQuests.
I have noticed that students need more attention during the first half of the school year versus the second half. So I am trying to figure out where the time will come to train first and second quarter students.
Putting standard 5C into practice has given me the greatest difficulty thus far. With it being summer break, contacting my colleagues is another challenge. I think this standard will have to be tackled during the school year. My hope is that by March staff development I will be able to have all necessary aspects in place.

I completely agree! With it being summer, contacting coteachers is rather difficult. Finding professional classes is also difficult given the time. I'm hoping that when school starts up again in August, classes will be available for building professional communities.
ReplyDeleteWhat Webquests have you been looking at? Have you found any good ones? Share if you can! I'd be interested to see what you're finding!

I have not done a tremendous amount with my plan either. The main thing is thinking about whether I am going in the right direction and did I bite off more than I can chew right now.
ReplyDeleteThere are things that I cannot do until I get back in the middle of August, but I have been doing a few things that like I said before has made me wonder if I am on the right track.
I think that if you can "train" the students it wil be worth it in the long run since they can then use this throughout the school year. Sometimes it takes the take and effort to really see that difference. You can do it. Let me think about it for a while. There has to be a way that you can work with it effectively and not take away too much time.

Allison,
ReplyDeleteResearching different webquests is a great step and also booking the computer labs because we all know that it can be difficult to get in if you wait too long! Are you going to use information on other teacher's webquests to create your own or are you going to use the webquests of other teachers because they have all the material you need?
I am waiting as well to August to work further on my GAME plan, but same as you, I am researching and getting everything set up so I am ready to roll when the school year begins!

Do either of you get time to work with other teachers before school begins? Like an inservice or team meetings? It seems as if plannning is so important but is given little if any time before school actually starts and when school is in session.
ReplyDeleteI am still looking for information and trying to work with other people to get things ready. It seems as if school is coming too soon. Will I ever get things ready for all of the things I have planned? Does anyone have a good way to organize their year? A planner or calendar that they use?
